Petuum Expands West to Sunnyvale, California
We are excited to announce today that Petuum has opened a new office in Sunnyvale, California. This is the company’s second office and the location was carefully chosen to complement and help grow our existing team and leadership.
We are lucky to already have solid ties to the Bay Area, which this new office will strengthen. Softbank, which has an office in San Carlos, invested in our Series B and two members of our advisory board, Dr. Michael I. Jordan of UC Berkeley and Dr. Stephen P. Boyd of Stanford University, are Bay Area residents.
In October, during our Series B funding announcement, we mentioned our intent to grow our company to support the development of our reusable, accessible, and practical AI platform. The Bay Area is a perfect fit for those next steps. Like our headquarter city, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, California’s Bay Area is a hub of technological innovation and a magnet to great minds. We’re excited to join this thriving community.
We’ve chosen an office in the heart of Sunnyvale’s beautifully renovated downtown, close to Las Palmas Park, the library, and Charles Street Gardens. We were drawn to Sunnyvale’s central location and impressive public amenities, in addition to the fact that it is a dynamic city considered a software developer heaven.
One of our focus areas this year is customer engagement, and our plan is to hire around 50 team members and leaders at our Sunnyvale office by the end of 2018 in Engineering, Product Management, and Business Development roles. We also hope to begin discussing future partnerships with our new Silicon Valley neighbors.
We look forward to exploring our new second home in the coming weeks and months!
